Escaping The Golden Cage
... Where you thought you wanted to be and where you found yourself to be!
I was reminiscing about my first year in engineering, B.E. Production course at Fr Agnels in Mumbai (Bombay as it was known then) University.
During my first year, we did not have our half yearly semester exam. We directly had an annual exam at the end of the first year.
During the entire year I was like one of the average, normal guys - not the geek, nor the good-for-nothing.
During exam time I used to come to college a bit early and then just hang out while everyone else was busy cramming at the last minute. Everyone looking hassled and I am just peacefully smiling away as if I have no care in the world..
And during each of the exams which were numerical/math based - I would walk out of the exam hall in about 40 to 45 minutes while the duration given to us was 3 hours...
Quickly everyone formed an impression that I am no good at studies and I do not care for what happens with my exams...
About 3 months later when the results were announced - I was one of only 7 people who had cleared all papers AND I had topped all those math based papers...
And then just as quickly everyone formed an impression that I was being a manipulative b@$t@rd.
I know it is customary on linked in to summarize a lesson learnt from this...
But I am not going to do that. I never intended to...
I just wanted to tell an anecdote from my life which hopefully you find interesting...
